Organized Social Media Crime

The rapid evolution in technology has led to the innovation of social media and alongside it the abuses of social media is increasing at an alarming rate. The cybercrimes that are currently occurring through social media can be segmented into two parts organized and unorganized. Today we will talk about the organized cybercrimes committed by criminals and the trends of these crimes show no sign of slowing down sooner or later. In various social media platforms, criminals are always looking for potential targets of burglary. Sharing personal events like, they are having dinner or going somewhere for trips is a very common tendency among social media users and this is where things get worse and criminals get their targets. The criminals are always in search of these kinds of information for making easy targets. According to Soomro and Hussain(2019) report Kim Kardashian’s jewelry theft which was of worth 10million USD is a notorious example of such a crime. Using social media definitely gives a lot of advantages but while sharing personal information there a balance has to be drawn by the users since this becomes a threat to their safety.
