As long as the context is social media, the first thing that knocks our mind is technological advancements and when it comes to it, the deliberations on the innovation of social media and the pros and cons it has bought alongside it becomes an ultimate necessity.

The origins of social media stretches out far greater than one can imagine. However there were a number of discoveries that triggered the invention of social media. The invention of blogging exploded in popularity back in the 1990s  and sites like MySpace and LinkedIn achieved prominence among ordinary people in the early 2000s, and sites like Photobucket and Flickr facilitated online photo sharing which in turn made the invention of YouTube possible. The invention of YouTube, later on, followed up with the innovations of a number of social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter which gained huge prominence like nothing before.
